Lunar Rover #1 Passes Crew Station Review

With Astronaut Dr. Robert Parker

In March 1971 Dr. Robert Parker, Apollo 15 support crew astronaut, along with a gang of program engineers went to the Boeing Company in Seattle, Washington to review the Lunar Rover, LRV #1, that the Apollo 15 astronauts will use during the Apollo 15 mission. Below are 8 fine glossy NASA photographs that document part of that event.

The Boeing Company built the unique moon buggy that carried the Apollo 15 astronauts over the moon's surface during the Apollo 15 Lunar Landing Mission. Earth viewers were able to "go along" on the exploration sorties from the Lunar Module, as the small craft had communication equipment that linked directly to earth via TV cameras. The LRV  allowed the Apollo 15 crew to explore up to 50 times more area aboard the LRV than they could walking. As we all know the LRV was a huge success and was use on each of the following Lunar Landing missions.
