£5.95 Apollo 15 Emblem 10 x 8 B/W Glossy NASA Photograph NASA No. 71-H-810 This is the patch designed for the Apollo 15 lunar landing mission. The circular design features the colors red, white and blue. On the outer portion of the patch a narrow band of blue and a narrow band of red encircle a wider band of white. The large disc in the center of the emblem has red, white and blue symbols of flight, superimposed over an artist's concept of the Apollo 15 Hadley-Apennine landing site of grey tone. The surnames of the crew are centered in the white band at the bottom of the insignia. This fine vintage glossy NASA photograph is in very good condition. |

Astronaut David R. Scott, Apollo 15 commander, is seated in the background; and to Scott's right is Astronaut James B. Irwin, lunar module pilot. They have stopped at the rim of a 30-foot crater to look over the terrain. The simulator, called "Grover" was built by the U.S. Geological Survey. The laser altimeter, developed by RCA's Aerospace Systems Division, will bounce laser beams off the Moon's surface, constantly measuring the Command Module's altitude and providing data on mountains, craters and other lunar features. £8.95 Apollo 15 Lunar Satellite 10 x 8 B/W Glossy NASA Photograph NASA No. 71-H-940 15 June 1971 An outstanding artist's concept of the small NASA satellite, which is designed to ride piggyback to the Moon aboard the Apollo 15 & 16 spacecrafts. The 80 pound satellite will carry particle detectors and magnetometers to obtain information about the interaction of the Earth's magnetic field with the Moon. Data will be sent to Earth by an S-bank telemetry system which allows precise tracking of the satellites' orbit. The satellite will be carried in a compartment of the Service Module on the Apollo 15 mission, with other scientific experiments and a camera system. The outer panel of the compartment will be jettisoned in the vicinity of the Moon so that the camera and laser system may be uses. The satellite will be kicked into orbit of the Moon by a spring-loaded separation system just before the Service Module's propulsion system is fired for the return to Earth.. Its just passed the sign board listing the previous Saturn V launches From Pads A & B. The first launch was the unmanned Apollo 4 on 9 November 1967 from Pad A followed by Apollo 6 then Apollo 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 & 13. Apollo 10 the only launch listed from Pad B.
