Astronaut Russell Schweickart is seen using the "golden slipper" foot restraints under zero-gravity condition aboard an Air Force KC-135 jet aircraft from Killington Air Force Base. These "golden slippers" will be used during his scheduled EVA activity on the Apollo 9 Earth-Orbital mission. They will be mounted on the Lunar Module porch and will be used to keep him from floating away during the EVA.

James said he was "flabbergasted" when the telegram was brought in.
