SOLD Apollo 4 Splashdown 10 x 8 Black & White Glossy Photograph NASA No. 67-H-1534 9 November 1967 The fully inflated 83-foot diameter parachute is shown hovering above the Apollo 4 spacecraft just after splashdown. The parachute, one of three uses to return the unmanned Apollo spacecraft from its 9,000 mile space journey, remained inflated for several minutes in brisk 20 mile-an-hour winds. Apollo 4 landed some 275 miles northeast of Midway Island after a successful 8 1/2 hour heat shield development test flight. This fine vintage NASA glossy photograph is in good condition. |

The unmanned spacecraft launched from the Cape on Thursday ended an eight and one half hour flight with a Pacific Ocean splashdown 275 miles northeast of Midway Island.
