SOLD Apollo Saturn 1 10 x 8 B/W Glossy NASA Photograph NASA No. 61-Sat-56 20 September 1961 The mighty Saturn Space Vehicle, the largest US rocket ever developed to date. The first SA-1 stage consists of a cluster of eight liquid-fuel engines, totaling 1.5 million pounds of thrust. Second and third stages will be dummies for this first R&D launch. This will be the first attempt to launch Saturn, a booster test and guidance control mission. It will be programmed to go to approx. 100 miles altitude and about 200 miles down range. The SA-1 booster will not be recovered as later version will be. Around the base of the first stage, drapes a rain cover to protect moisture from getting into fuel tanks. £12.95 Apollo SA-9 Mission A-103 Launch 10 x 8 Colour Glossy NASA Photograph 16 February 1965 A wonderful distance view of the SA-9 lifting off from Launch Complex 37B at the Cape. Call sign Mission A-103 was the eighth unmanned Saturn flight. It was the initial vehicle in the operational series of Saturn I launch vehicles and the third to carry an Apollo boilerplate payload. The vehicle also orbited the first of three meteoroid technology satellites, Pegasus A. The launch vehicle (SA-9) consisted of an S-I first stage, an S-IV second stage, and an instrument unit. The Spacecraft consisted of a boilerplate command and service module, a launch escape system, and a service module/launch vehicle adapter (BP-16). SOLD SA-10 Lift Off With Pegasus 3 10 x 8 B/W Glossy NASA Photograph 31 July 1965 NASA launched Pegasus 3, third of the meteoroid detection satellites, as scheduled at 8:00 a.m. EST, from Cape Kennedy's LC37. As earlier, an Apollo spacecraft (boilerplate 9) served as the payload's shroud. This flight (SA-10) marked the end of the Saturn I program, which during its seven-year lifetime had achieved 10 straight successful launches and had contributed immeasurably to American rocket technology. The AMS is a primary training system which will prepare Apollo astronauts for flights. Standing nearly thirty feet high and weighing forty tons, the simulator is designed to familiarise Apollo crews with equipment, crew tasks, mission procedures and emergency flight situations.
