The crew, Roger Chaffee, Ed White and Gus Grissom are inside the boilerplate and are just about ready to egress the model-spacecraft in emergency conditions while its upside down. In this photograph you can just make out that some is inside the boilerplate through the small square window seen on the side. SOLD Apollo-1 Place Where Fire Started 10 x 8 B/W Glossy NASA Photograph NASA No. 67-H-377 9 April 1967 View of the severely damaged area near the floor in the lower forward section of the left hand equipment bay below the Eviromental Control Unit in Spacecraft 012. the Apollo 204 Review Board states in its final report that studies of the fire damaged patterns indicate that this is the likely region for the start of the Apollo 204 fire. The probable initiator of the fire was an electric arc in a power cable in this area seen in the photograph. This fine vintage NASA glossy photograph is in very good condition. |

The flag salute honoured the memory of Astronauts Virgil I. Grissom, Edward H. White II and Roger B. Chaffee who were killed in a flash fire during a training exercise in their spacecraft at the Kennedy Space Center. SOLD Apollo Program Emblem 10 x 8 Colour NASA Photograph 30 August 1966 NASA No. S-65-55202 The insignia for the Apollo program is a disk circumscribed by a band displaying the words Apollo and NASA. The centre disc bears a large letter "A" with the constellation Orion positioned so its three central stars form the bar of the letter. To the right is a sphere of the earth, with a sphere of the moon in the upper left portion of the centre disc. The face on the moon represents the mythical god, Apollo. A double trajectory passes behind both spheres and through the central stars. This fine NASA re-issue is in very good condition, near mint and has the purple text on the back. |
