An Apollo Soyuz Test Project (ASTP) symbolic painting by artist Bert Winthrop of Rockwell International Space Division, Downey, California. The artwork is composed of the ASTP mission insignia, the docked Apollo-Soyuz spacecraft, and portraits of the five ASTP prime crewmen, all superimposed against the Earth's sphere in the center of the picture. The launches of both the American ASTP space vehicle (on left) and the Soviet ASTP space vehicle are depicted in the lower right corner. The five crewmen are, clockwise from the ASTP emblem, Astronaut Thomas P. Stafford, commander of the American crew; Astronaut Donald K. Slayton, docking module pilot of the American crew; Astronaut Vance D. Brand, command module pilot of the American crew; Cosmonaut Valeriy N. A 34-member delegation from the Soviet Union, including 10 cosmonauts, begin a 3-week visit to JSC to further plans for a joint mission in 1975. The delegation will be headed by Professor Konstantin Bushuyev, ASTP Technical Director for the Soviet Union. This will be the initial familiarization visit for the delegation and no training will be conducted. Delegation members include the prime and backup crews, Mission Model & Operational Plans working group, cosmonaut training specialists, interpreters and administrative support personnel. At the table (L - R) Leonov, Rudavishnikov, Filipchenko, Yeremin, Vaskevich, Samofal and Shatalov.

The Saturn 1B space vehicle for the Apollo Soyuz Test Project (ASTP) mission, with its launch umbilical tower, rides atop a crawler-transporter as it moves from the Vehicle Assemble Building (VAB) on its 4.24 mile journey to Pad B, Launch Complex 39, at the Kennedy Space Centre. The ASTP vehicle is composed of a Saturn 1B (first) stage, a Saturn IVB (second) stage, and a payload consisting of a Command/Service Module and a Docking Module.
