Atlas A The Atlas A was the first test model of Atlas ICBM. It had two booster engines but no sustainer engines and a dummy warhead was used in all 8 test flights. It proved to be only 50% reliable in its 8 flight tests. Testing of the Atlas A concluded in June 1958. |

This will be the first test launch of the mighty Atlas but unfortunately it was unsuccessful due to a failure in the boosters fuel system and was detonated by command signal at 10,000 feet after lift-off on 11 June 1957. This fine vintage glossy photograph is in very good condition. |

Convair Atlas B This 1-1/2 stage rocket was the first FULL version of the Atlas Launch Vehicle. Atlas A testing was completed in June 1958 and Atlas B tests continued with the XSM-65B until December 1958. The Atlas B tested all subsystems of the Atlas, including the full three-engine propulsion system and a range of 10200 km was reached. The first Atlas B was launched from Launch Complex 11 on 19 July 1958. It was the first full-powered flight of the Atlas using all engines, sustainer and booster. It developed flight control failure and only reached Apogee of 6 miles. |

SOLD Convair Atlas B 4B Lift Off 10 x 8 B/W Glossy USAF Photograph USAF No. PL-58-44569 2 August 1958 The research and development Atlas B's second flight and first long range test lift off from Launch Complex 13 at the Cape. This flight reached an Apogee of 900 km and was the second full-powered flight of the USAF Atlas ICBM and it travelled 2,500 miles with a radio-inertial guidance system. This was the sixth full powered research and development test launch of the Atlas B. This fine vintage USAF glossy photograph is in very good condition. VG+ however "Official File Copy" has been stamped on the front at the bottom. Actually this blends in quite nicely with this very fine dark night scene and does not distract all that much. |

Convair Atlas C The Convair Atlas C was the last development version of the Atlas and it was never used operationally. The Atlas C - XSM-65C was flown between December 1958 and August 1959. These R&D flights were set to test the launch vehicles thin-skinned fuel tanks and its radio-command guidance systems. |

Convair Atlas F The Atlas F was the final operational version of Atlas ICBM. It differed in its guidance systems and was deployed as missiles from 1961 to 1966. After retirement, the ICBM's were refurbished and used for over twenty years as space launch vehicles. |

SOLD Atlas 16F Lift Off 10 x 8 Colour Glossy USAF Photograph USAF AFSC No. PL-62-80066 7 November 1962 Atlas F R&D launch lifts off from Cape Canaveral's Launch Complex 11 at 19:43 GMT on the 7th November 1962. Apogee 1400 km. The Atlas F configuration was used in the space program form the very early days and was used extensively for re-entry testing. This very fine vintage colour glossy USAF AFSC photograph is in near mint condition. Printed on heavy 'A Kodak Paper'. |
