SOLD STS-31 STS-31 Hubble Deployment 10 x 8 Colour NASA Photograph NASA No. STS31-76-016 24 April 1990 The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) is held in appendage deploy position by Discovery's, Orbiter Vehicle (OV) 103's, remote manipulator system (RMS) above the payload bay and crew compartment cabin. While in this position the solar array (SA) wing bistem cassette (HST centre) is deployed from its stowed location along side the Support System Module (SSM) forward shell. Mission Specialist Bonnie J. Dunbar's lower torso is inside the cylindrical LBNP device as MS G. David Low adjusts valve and reviews DSO 0478 checklist. The circulation duct and the open airlock hatch appear behind Low's head. Attached to the forward middeck lockers are beverage containers, ARRIFLEX film, and various checklists. SOLD STS-35 STS-35 ASTRO-1 Deployment 10 x 8 Colour NASA Photograph NASA No. STS35-506-008 2 - 11 October 1990 During the STS-35 mission, the Astronomy Laboratory 1 (ASTRO-1) payload, in its on-orbit operating configuration, is documented in the payload bay (PLB) of Columbia, Orbiter Vehicle (OV) 102. In the center of the frame, three ultraviolet telescopes are mounted and precisely coaligned on a common structure, called the cruciform, that is attached to the instrument pointing system (IPS). Visible on the cruciform are the Wisconsin Ultraviolet Photo-Polarimeter Experiment (WUPPE) (top left), the Hopkins Ultraviolet Telescope (HUT) (behind WUPPE), the Integrated Radiator System (IRS) (silver box on right), and the Optical Sensor Package (OSP) (above IRS).
