Actual Onboard Photograph.

An almost perfectly blue area of ocean forms the backdrop for this scene of the Syncom/Leasat spacecraft moments after it began its separation from the Earth-orbiting Discovery. A Frisbee-like method of deployment was used to send the satellite on its way to operation in space. The slender antenna had just popped out prior to the taking of this fantastic 70mm photograph.
