He served as a member of the astronaut support crews and as CAPCOM for the Apollo 8 and 12 flights, and was involved in the development and testing of the lunar roving vehicle which was used on the lunar surface by Apollo flight crews. Carr was commander of Skylab 4 From February 1974 until March 1978, Colonel Carr and his Skylab 4 team mates shared the world record for individual time in space: 2,017 hours 15 minutes 32 seconds, and Carr logged 15 hours and 48 minutes in three EVAs outside the Orbital Workshop. Because of the lack of spaceflight opportunities for scientist-astronauts in the 1967 intake, Dr. Chapman left NASA in July 1972. He is now with Arthur D. Dr. Lind was a member of the astronaut office's operations missions development group, responsible for developing payloads for the early Space Shuttle orbital flight test (OFT) missions. Jack was the pilot for Skylab-3 (July 28 to September 25, 1973) and was spacecraft commander on STS-3 (March 22-30, 1982), logging a total of over 1,619 hours in space. Bruce McCandless 10 x 8 Colour NASA Lithograph McCandless is one of the 19 astronauts selected by NASA in April 1966. Bruce was a member of the astronaut support crew for the Apollo 14 mission and was backup pilot for the first manned Skylab mission (SL-1/SL-2). He was a co-investigator on the M-509 astronaut maneuvering unit experiment which was flown in the Skylab Program, and collaborated on the development of the Manned Manoeuvring Unit (MMU) used during Shuttle EVA's. He has been responsible for crew inputs to the development of hardware and procedures for the Inertial Upper Stage (IUS), Space Telescope, the Solar Maximum Repair Mission, and the Space Station Program. A veteran of two space flights, McCandless has logged over 312 hours in space, including 4 hours of MMU flight time. SOLD Donald H. Peterson 10 x 8 Colour NASA Lithograph Peterson became a NASA astronaut in September 1969 and served on the astronaut support crew for Apollo 16. Peterson was a mission specialist on STS-6, which launched from Kennedy Space Centre, Florida, on April 4, 1983. Peterson conducted an extravehicular activity to test NASA's new suit, the Shuttle airlock, and new tools and techniques for construction and repairs outside a spacecraft. After 120 hours of orbital operations STS-6 landed on the concrete runway at Edwards Air Force Base, California, on April 9, 1983. With the completion of this flight Don Peterson has logged 4 hours 15 minutes in extravehicular activity, and a total of 120 hours in space. Alan Shepard holds the distinction of being the first American to journey into space. Deke was originally scheduled to pilot the Mercury-Atlas 7 mission but was relieved of this assignment due to a heart condition discovered in August 1959. Mr. Slayton made his first space flight as Apollo docking module pilot of the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project (ASTP) mission, July 15-24, 1975, a joint space flight culminating in the first historical meeting in space between American astronauts and Soviet cosmonauts. Swigert 10 x 8 Colour NASA Lithograph Mr. Swigert was one of the 19 astronauts selected by NASA in April 1966 and served as a member of the astronaut support crew for the Apollo 7 mission. John was next assigned to the Apollo 13 backup crew and subsequently called upon to replace prime crewman Thomas K. Mattingly as command module pilot. (The substitution was announced 72 hours prior to launch of the mission following Mattingly's exposure to the German measles.) Apollo 13, April 11-17, 1970, was programmed for ten days and was committed to our first landing in the hilly, upland Fra Mauro region of the moon. In completing his first space flight, Mr. Swigert logged a total of 142 hours, 54 minutes in space. This fine vintage NASA lithograph is in near mint condition. |

He was outside Gemini 4 for 21 minutes, and became the first man to control himself in space during EVA with a manoeuvring unit.
